Father’s

Day gifts

Words: Gemma Steele

They might think that the best Father’s Day gift is dad-joke appreciation, but luckily, the gift-getting is down to you. From barbecue gear to a vintage watch, we’ve rounded up our top 10 gift ideas for Dad.

1. FACE TIME

Humanrace, Routine Pack: Three Minute Facial gift set, £100

If we were to take skincare tips from any 50-year-old father of four, it would be seemingly ageless Pharrell Williams. This gift set from his skincare brand, Humanrace, includes a cleanser, exfoliator and moisturising cream for a straightforward – but transformative – routine. Everything is formulated for all skin types with innovative, vegan ingredients such as soothing rice powder and exfoliating lotus enzyme.

2. BREAD WINNER

Selfridges Selection, Father’s Day gift box, £70

Finding that one perfect Father’s Day present is hard. Enter: the Father’s Day hamper. It’s filled with treats to take him from morning coffee, onto snack time and through to after-dinner drinks. The beers are made with surplus bread rather than barley, a swap that has so far saved 61 tonnes of CO2 emissions and 382,000 litres of water. The rest are from Selfridges Selection, our food and drink range made by artisan producers.

3. FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRITS

Whitebox, Classic Cocktail Selection, £35.99

When it comes to finding the best gifts for dads, something they wouldn’t buy themselves always works a treat. This selection box of six different cocktails by Whitebox could uncover a new go-to drink or remind them of an old favourite. The vibrant retro tins are also bound to get nostalgic dads talking about the good ol’ days.

4. SWEET CHILD OF WINE

Selfridges Selection, red and white organic wine gift box, £45

If your dad fancies himself as a bit of a sommelier, treat him to this set. The wooden gift box contains two bottles of organic wine – one white, one red. They’re made from Garnacha, a popular grape grown across the world in particularly warm climates. And they’re both vegan, so the set is a certified crowd-pleaser.

5. POCKET MONEY

Prada, Logo-plaque geometric-print leather wallet, £520

Magicking a coin from behind an ear is the oldest trick in the dad book, so a wallet feels like the perfect way to stash them all. This one goes beyond pure practicality – it’s Prada, after all – with a print that first showed up on the brand’s AW22 runway. It comes in its own branded box, too, so that’s the wrapping sorted.

6. OLD-TIMER

Omega, Bucherer-certified pre-owned 1358.465.3 Speedmaster automatic watch, £3200

There’s saying, “I love you to the moon and back”, and there’s showing it. This pre-owned Omega Speedmaster is the same model as the watch Neil Armstrong wore on the moon. Bucherer Certified Pre-Owned inspects every timepiece they collect, verifying their authenticity and giving them a thorough ultrasonic clean, so this one is good as new.

7. DADDY COOL

New Balance, 327 suede trainers, £120

If anyone should benefit from the dad trainer trend, it’s the dads themselves. New Balance’s retro 327s nod to 70s running shoes, and the number of sightings on the streets of London lately tells us they’ll get a nod of approval from any style-conscious parents at playground pick-up time. Made with soft suede, they’re also long-lasting and incredibly comfortable.

8. DOUBLE TROUBLE

Patagonia, Isthmus padded hooded jacket, £250

Although lightweight, this jacket from Patagonia is filled with a warm blend of goose down and waterfowl feather. Durable, made from recycled nylon and inspired by archive styles, it sums up Patagonia’s future-proof approach to design. To really tug on the heartstrings, there’s also a kids’ version for their mini-me.

9. A GOOD GRILLING

Tramontina, BBQ Churrasco carving knife set of three, £75

There are typically two camps of barbecue chefs: the brains and the burners. A smart, stainless-steel set with meat tongs, a carving fork and a knife, this gift is for the brains. Each utensil is designed with rustic wooden handles, and there’s a case to match. As Father’s Day is in June, this gift will be theirs just in time for grilling all summer long.

10. WAKE-UP CALL

Alessi, Ossidiana espresso coffee maker, £85

This polished aluminium coffee maker has us thinking about new parents – the didn’t-sleep-all-night dads. Being bright-eyed and bushy-tailed might be out of the question right now, but this coffee maker produces a strong and much-appreciated espresso. It was designed for Alessi by Sicilian architect Mario Trimarchi and has an ergonomic design for a perfect pour.
